She just gave $300,000 to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a fund established to raise money for the new training facility at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio that will house catastrophically injured military personnel and their families during their rehabilitation. The new facility receives no federal funding and exists solely because American citizens opened their wallets for the troops.

She just called in to the Imus in the Morning show, and I didn't hear the whole conversation, but I believe she found out that they were $300,000 away from their $10 million goal and she decided to top it off. Which makes her (as well as my husband and I) more supportive of the troops than all the war profiteers in the Bush administration put together. While they vote to cut even more benefits for our veterans, decent Americans are doing their best to compensate them for their sacrifices.

Despite an administration that insinuates that Americans are unpatriotic and morally challenged, it's the people of this country that make it great, not the leaders who sell our souls for profit.
