Watching Cable News
Why are FOX and CNN televising wall-to-wall coverage of this Neil Entwhistle fellow? I've never heard of Neil Entwhistle before, have you? He's not famous. The police think he killed his wife and child, he says he didn't. He coincidentally flew to England the day his family was murdered - that's kind of odd. Maybe that's why the news media is covering it so thoroughly, because his actions at the time of the incident are seen as suspicious.
This comes right along side of Scott McClellan, Mary Matalin, Brit Hume and Dick Cheney saying that Americans are tired of hearing about Cheney's shooting incident and want to get back to the important issues facing Americans. Cheney being famous and notoriously deceptive and frighteningly powerful are just not good enough justifications for wall-to-wall exploration and speculation.
And the White House Press Corps are smarting from being scooped. Yeah that empty, contradictory, "eye witness" statement was a real scoop. Armstrong said she saw Cheney's security detail running toward the scene. "The first thing that crossed my mind was he had a heart problem," she told The Associated Press. So, did she surmise that because Cheney was still standing? Or was it the fact that the Secret Service was running away from Cheney and toward the fallen Whittington?
Any thinking person can see that she was not at the scene. But questioning her story and asking for a better account from Cheney is just the White House Press Corps being mean. Ok. But why are the cable news channels being so mean to Neil Entwhistle? I just don't get it.
